The Zoom AI Companion

Zoom recently announced the release of their new AI Companion. Zoom’s AI Companion can analyze a Zoom cloud recording and add searchable chapters, assist in creating Zoom team chats, and summarize meeting topics for participants. At this time, though, the AI Companion is not available in our higher-ed Zoom environment.

We’ll keep you posted as the release of the AI Companion progresses. More to come!

New Zoom App for Chromebooks

If you are a Chromebook user and engage Zoom, there’s a new app for your device. Zoom recommends downloading and installing their new Zoom for Chrome PWA application for use with Chromebooks. Select this link to install the Zoom for Chrome PWA application.

Keep Up-to-Date with Software Updates

For the best user experience, be sure to stay up-to-date with software updates. The latest update often includes feature enhancements and service patches that improve application functionality.

Zoom recently implemented a Quarterly Software Lifecycle Policy. Please review this page for the latest information regarding Zoom’s software lifecycle.

To update the Zoom desktop application:

  1. Log in to the desktop application.
  2. Select the profile image at the top-right of the application window (this could be your initials or a profile picture that you have uploaded).
  3. Choose the option to Check for Updates and follow the prompts on screen.
