You can reach the OIT HelpDesk at 865-974-9900. We’re available by phone during the hours listed below, excluding university holidays and administrative closings.
HelpDesk Hours
Effective June 1, 2026, the HelpDesk hours are:
- Monday–Thursday: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 12:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
What happens outside of HelpDesk hours?
Support for urgent access issues, such as password resets or 2FA assistance, will continue to be available during closed hours. During that time, callers may leave a voicemail, and urgent access-related issues will receive a return call for assistance. Other issues will be submitted as tickets and addressed during the next HelpDesk support hours.
What are other ways to get help after hours?
In addition to leaving a voicemail, users can submit a ticket and access self-service resources at help.utk.edu. The site is also home to the OIT Knowledge Base and a new, enhanced chatbot that can help answer questions and guide users to support resources.

- Submit a Help Request online.
- Chat with the OIT HelpDesk at oit.utk.edu/chat.
- Visit the Walk-In HelpDesk in the Commons at Hodges Library for face-to-face IT support (see Walk-In HelpDesk hours).
