OIT Research Services

The Office of Innovative Technologies (OIT) provides a variety of services to help with computing as it applies to research at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Research Computing Support for Academics

Research Computing Support (RCS) provides quantitative, qualitative, and geographic information systems support to faculty, staff, and student researchers.

OIT statisticians provide statistical consulting and assist with data analysis, study design, sample size determination, web surveys, machine learning, and data visualization. The RCS team can coauthor manuscripts and provide assistance with writing methods and results sections. Faculty and students have access to research software such as ArcGIS, MATLAB, NVivo, Python, Qualtrics, SAS, SPSS, Stata, R, and more.

High Performance & Scientific Computing

High Performance & Scientific Computing (HPSC) works with researchers who require specialized, high-end, supercomputing resources for their work.

Open and Secure computing enclaves are available for high-performance task. The Open Enclave allows for seamless access for all researchers on campus. The Secure Enclave meets Protected Health Information and Controlled Unclassified Information federal regulations. Support for using these resources includes system administration, scientific computing, documentation, training, software installation and maintenance, and other support services.
