Instructional Support
iMovie (Apple)
iMovie is a video creation/editing application available for MacOS and iOS. Known for its simple interface, iMovie makes it easy to create great-looking videos and movies. Video can be recorded or imported into iMovie, and organized by date and time. Video and audio can be added, with just a few mouse clicks, to add some special effects; and, for more creative options, iMovie also offers a variety of title slides and transition effects.
Instructors may use iMovie for a variety of tasks, including to:
- deliver an overview of a course topic using media;
- invite students to create a video presentation for a class project;
- assemble video clips and/or pictures to create an enhanced podcast in GarageBand;
- record and edit a personal introduction for placement on Canvas;
- create a mini-lecture for occasions when the instructor may be unavailable;
- allow students to illustrate concepts they have learned;
- deliver demonstrations for students to review during and outside of class.
