As a student, you have a choice between Outlook and Gmail for your UT-provided email service. Regardless of which service you choose for email delivery, you will have access to Microsoft 365 for Education and Google for Education.

The retention policy for permanently deleted items is 14 days. Microsoft 365/Volmail accounts are not backed up by Microsoft, and OIT cannot restore files from backup should they be inadvertently deleted.
The university administration is discontinuing the NetID@vols.utk.edu email service for alumni at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Institute of Agriculture, and the UT Space Institute.
Alumni with an active @vols.utk.edu email account can continue to use their UT email until October 31, 2023. At that time, all alumni accounts will be closed.
