This is the password you use for applications such as Office 365, Canvas, OIT Labs, Online Pay Statements, and other NetID/Active Directory applications.

Access after Leaving/Graduating


Faculty or staff who leave the university will have access to their Volmail accounts for one year. After this time, the accounts are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.


Students retain access to Volmail indefinitely after graduating or leaving the university. Before you graduate or leave the university, we encourage you to setup your Volmail password option​s BEFORE your NetID has been deleted from the UT Directory. Your NetID is deleted from the UT Directory one year after graduating or leaving the university. In the event that you forget your password or it becomes corrupt, you will be able to create a new password. Once your NetID has been deleted from the UT Directory, OIT will be unable to reset your password.

If your Volmail account has been locked out due to repeated failed login attempts, please contact the OIT HelpDesk online or by phone at 865-974-9900, or visit the HelpDesk in the Hodges Library Commons.

Display Name


You can change your name by talking to the Payroll person in your department. You will need to update your “Known As” name in IRIS (IRIS Personal Data Form). Alternately, you can call Human Resources at 865-946-8847.


You can contact OneStop to change your name. (Name Change Request).

Student Employees must update their information with Payroll as well as the Registrar’s Office.​​​​
