CUP Eligibility Rules



Machine Upgrade Requirements

  • Machine to be upgraded must have been purchased prior to July 1, 2020 and never been upgraded on a prior program
  • Only desktops and notebooks/laptops that meet or exceed the recommended CUP configurations will qualify for reimbursement
  • Peripheral equipment is not eligible (such as printers, scanners, second monitors)
  • Unless requesting an exception, prior purchases for reimbursement must be within the same fiscal year as the current program

Faculty Eligibility Requirements

  • Full-time employee of UTK faculty and tenured or tenure-track and at least 20% centrally funded from an E01 cost center. Faculty receiving startup funds are not eligible within the first four years of employment
  • Non-tenure track faculty are eligible if they teach one class both fall and spring semester
  • Non-tenure track positions are eligible through the purchase of departmental computers managed by the department
  • Only one upgrade (desktop or laptop) allowed each four years

Staff Eligibility Requirements

  • Full-time employee and at least 50% of their funding from a centrally funded E01 account
  • Only one upgrade (desktop or laptop) allowed each four years
