If you need help determining which software to use when recording and hosting your recorded lectures and classes, review the features included in all three of these UT-supported systems.

Video Conferencing
Zoom can host up to 300 participants at a time.
Sharing Recordings
Panopto videos are stored in the Panopto Cloud and can be shared individually with links or via Canvas integration. Videos can be embedded or linked on a webpage.

Canvas Studio videos are stored in the Canvas cloud and can be shared within Canvas.

Zoom recordings can be stored locally on the presenter’s computer or via Zoom Cloud. Zoom Cloud is integrated with Panopto and all recorded lectures are automatically imported into your Panopto user folder. Instructors can choose to share a live link, a link to the Cloud recordings, or share the recorded file.
Captioning
Each video is captioned using automatic speech recognition (ASR) captioning. Paid human captioning from a vendor is available upon request.

Video Search
Anything spoken or shown as text within a slideshow in the video presentation is searchable. Search results are also tied to playhead position within the video timeline.

Comments

Comment section similar to a chat window. Comments are tied to playhead location on the timeline. Option to receive discussion notifications available.

Chat can be turned on during Zoom meetings and can be set to auto-save after. The option to download the chat log is also available if turned on.
Analytics
User-specific video views, overall video views, when users stop watching, and Google Analytics integration

Meeting leaders may access reports after the Zoom session, including a Participant report and Polling report (if applicable).
Assignment Submissions
Students can record and submit their own video, faculty can comment.
