Course:

Counseling 460: A Practicum in Grief

Abstract:

Counseling 460: A Practicum in Grief is a course rooted in constructive and experiential learning methods. The focus of this course is students’ participation in the University of Tennessee’s Grief Outreach Initiative (GOI), which provides mentorship services for children and adolescents in our community who are experiencing grief in some capacity. During the semester, students will have the opportunity to use skills learned in the classroom as they mentor a child or adolescent struggling with issues related to grieving a loss. In addition to supervised practice and application, students will gain knowledge and skills about grief, loss, and life transitions.
