Enhancing Students Engagement and Improving Assessment Through the Use of Canvas
Public Relations Research 340R
Public relations decisions must be based on sound research. Communication campaigns without a solid research foundation cannot be strategic and will fail. The Public Relations Research course teaches students both to comprehend and conduct research. The course is aimed at providing students with hand-on experience choosing, designing, critiquing, managing, and executing various research methods for the purpose of finding strategic communication insights for a real client. The redesign of the course will increase students’ engagement in the course and improve assessment. This will include creating interactive lectures with built-on live quizzes, developing methods for formative and summative assessment, increasing assessment’s transparency, and facilitating group work. The ultimate goal is to help students learn through the co-creation of the course with the instructor and other classmates, just as it is in real life.
