Robert Spirko

Robert SpirkoOIT also welcomes Robert Spirko, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English, as a 2016-17 Faculty Fellow. We commend his support to faculty and students in
adopting accessibility measures while implementing technology into the
educational experience.

Spirko’s ongoing interest in the intersection between accessibility and good instructional design principles will be a great asset to his Faculty Fellow tenure.

His proposal suggests a number of engaging options, including:

  • Creating a STEM focus group for accessibility issues in those fields
  • Developing guides for assessing accessibility of materials and developing accessible materials
  • Working specifically with First-Year Composition instructors and the Composition Office to help develop accessible materials
  • Investigating the pedagogical opportunities afforded by accessibility
