Printing

Printing on campus is simple and convenient using the VolPrint system. More than 60 printers are available for students to use in OIT Computer Labs and many other areas across campus. Users can print from either the computers located in the student computer labs or from their own personal devices.

Printing from Computer Lab Machines

Lab desktops & laptops print directly to the printers using a student’s NetID and password for authentication.

  1. Printing black and white jobs
Select the appropriate black & white queue (i.e. NetID_South_Com_1_2), enter NetID and password when prompted to release the job from the computer.
  2. Printing color job
Select the color queue, then login to the release station next to the color printer and select the job for print.
  3. ID Scanner
In Commons, there is an additional method available with the ID Scanners that does not require input of a password. Print to IDscan_BW, scan ID at printer, no password entered.

Printing from Personal Devices

There are two ways to print from your own personal laptop. Or you can print from tables and phones using mobile print.

  1. Mobile Print
A cloud based web service that allows printing from most mobile devices. Access mobile print at myprint.utk.edu. This service uploads documents using HTTPS.

  2. Print Release Stations
Printing can be configured on personal laptops and jobs will be sent to release stations located in certain buildings around campus.

Printing from Your Dorm Room

For personal printers in dorm rooms, OIT recommends direct printing using a USB cable between the printer and the device.
