Getting Connected
Access Your Accounts
- Locate Your NetID and Set Up 2FA
All faculty and staff are assigned a Network ID (NetID) when they start working at UT. Your NetID is the username associated with your University of Tennessee accounts and is the first part of your University email address, e.g. your-NetID@utk.edu.
Step 1: Look up your NetID and create your password.

Learn more about your UT email, including instructions for logging in, configuring Outlook, or your smartphone.All of your official University communication will be delivered through your UT email account including messages from the Chancellor, Provost, Payroll Office, and Human Resources.

- Telephone Services
Request departmental office phones, cell phones, long-distance code, and other voice services, set up a conference call with Zoom, and find user guides for all phone services.
Register for the UT Network
- Register your devices to use UT’s network
You can register your computer, smartphone, and other mobile devices to use UT’s network.
Resources for Working
- Download and Sign into Zoom: Connect with your colleagues and students online via Zoom by signing in with your NetID and password. Use the Single-Sign On (SSO) option for the best experience.
- Online Storage and Collaboration: OIT offers several solutions for storing your files and collaborating with colleagues, including Microsoft 365 and Google.
- Software/Applications available to faculty, and staff: UT students, faculty, and staff can get access to many software packages through their connection to the university, often at a reduced cost or no additional charge.
- Accessing and Managing Departmental Websites
OIT provides virtual server space for faculty and staff. This service is perfect for building personal and organizational websites.

- Computer purchases: Each college, department, or institute at UT can place a hardware order with any vendor that has an active UT hardware contract.
