What’s New in MATLAB R2026a?

MATLAB R2026a, released in March 2026, introduces major advancements in data management, language interoperability, and embedded systems tools.
New MATLAB features include:
- Java Runtime
Install your own compatible OpenJDK release.
- Python Integration
Use the External Languages panel to view, create, and manage Python environments in MATLAB; automatically convert MATLAB string arrays to a Python list or NumPy string array.
- Sharing from MATLAB Drive
Share files and apps stored in MATLAB Drive directly from the MATLAB Desktop and App Designer, respectively.
- JSON Files
Read and write JSON data as tables and timetables.
- Live Editor
Create multilevel lists; run user-defined code by clicking a button control in your live script.
- Raincloudplot Function
Visualize grouped numeric data by using rain cloud plots.
Release Highlights: Several MATLAB toolboxes have also been updated, including Econometrics Toolbox, Mapping Toolbox, MATLAB Test, Polyspace Bug Finder, Polyspace Test, RF PCB Toolbox, RF Toolbox, Signal Processing Toolbox, and Simulink Real-Time.
