UT Vault 2.0 Comming Soon

On April 9, 2025, the Office of Innovative Technologies will release a new secure file transfer service along with a new URL.  On the same date, we will retire the current UT Vault service located at vault.utk.edu. Upon signing into the new UT Vault 2.0 at utvault.tennessee.edu, you will notice a new interface with improved features and supportability. Keep in mind that the vault is a secure file transfer solution, not to be confused with secure email messaging. OIT recommends using Microsoft Outlook’s Encrypt feature when sending secure email messages.

On April 9, sign in at utvault.tennessee.edu (active link coming soon!)

Improvements and changes include:

  • Send files up to 15 GB. Upload your files to share them with others.
  • External users create accounts to share files with you.
  • Files remain available for 14 days (previously 20 days).

Prepare for the upgrade by backing up shared files

The current UT Vault service will be retired on April 9, 2025, and existing files will auto-delete. Before the release date, review and back up any active documents that you are currently sharing.

Please follow these steps to preserve your active shared files:

  • Log in to vault.utk.edu to review your files.
  • Download active files that you have shared or received.
  • Starting April 9, upload and reshare active files using the new UT Vault 2.0 to ensure your recipients retain access.
  • Update any shared links and personal bookmarks to the new URL, utvault.tennessee.edu.
