Students: Prepare for Life After UT

Congratulations Grads!  With graduation just around the corner, you may be wondering what you will have access to (and for how long) once you leave UT.

We have put together a list of the most popular IT services; access to these services is based on your official “Left UT” date. You can check your status in the Online Directory.

NetID

One calendar year after your Left UT date, your NetID and all access granted by your NetID will be deleted, except for your Volmail account.

UT Email/Volmail account

You can keep your UT Microsoft 365 email, UT Gmail account, and @vols.utk.edu email address for 365 days after leaving the university. If you are interested in an alumni email account, watch for emails from OIT with instructions and the next steps. Learn more about alumni email at oit.utk.edu/alumni.

Microsoft 365 OneDrive and other online apps

You can retain access to Office 365 OneDrive and other Office 365 online apps for one calendar year after you leave the university. At the end of this year, you will lose access to the files stored in your UTK OneDrive and Microsoft will delete the files. OIT recommends backing up and transferring your files to another third-party service.

Google Drive and other online apps

Access to the Google Apps, including Drive, will be available for one year after you leave the university.

Microsoft Office

Once you have left the University, your Microsoft Office ProPlus subscription will end, and access to the desktop suite and web applications will be unavailable. After this time, you will need to enroll in other available consumer or commercial offers from Microsoft or other third-party retailers.

Other

Information about the retention of the other popular OIT services, such as Canvas, MyUTK, Apps@UTK, the OIT Labs, and Web Surveys are available in OIT’s Knowledge Base.
