As part of our continuous innovation efforts, the Office of Innovative Technologies (OIT) is excited to introduce Microsoft Teams Premium for faculty and staff. This enhanced version builds on the familiar, all-in-one collaborative experience of Microsoft Teams, making meetings more intelligent, personalized, and secure—whether for one-on-one interactions, large meetings, virtual appointments, or webinars. 

With Teams Premium, you can: 

• Focus on what truly matters with AI-powered meetings and intelligent recaps. These features automatically generate meeting notes, recommended tasks, and personalized highlights, ensuring you receive the most crucial information, even if you miss the meeting. 

• Customize your meetings and webinars to create personalized experiences during calls or presentations. Add unique touches like branded meetings and organizational backgrounds for a best-in-class experience. 

• Keep meetings confidential with advanced protections such as watermarks, sensitivity labels, end-to-end encryption, and controls over who can record. 

• Enhance virtual appointments with advanced personalized features that streamline appointment management and track performance with reports and analytics. 

Since this March 3 release, you can now use Microsoft Teams Premium to make your virtual meetings more intelligent, engaging, and protected. 

Who is eligible for Microsoft Teams Premium 

Most active faculty and staff on the Knoxville campus, UT Space Institute, Institute of Agriculture, Institute for Public Service, and UT System Administration are eligible. 

The following faculty and staff designations have a limited Microsoft license*, which does not include access to Teams Premium:

• Pending Employees for UTSA 
• Emeritus Faculty 
• Faculty Retirees 
• Ushers 
• Employees with a special appointment (previously IRIS subgroup 40) 
• Contingent Workers, including many adjunct faculty and county-paid Ag Extension employees (previously Friends of the University) 
• Sponsored users 

*If you have a limited license, your department may purchase an A5 license, plus Teams Premium, for $111.41 per year. Any account with a purchased A5 license will be upgraded and billed at the new rate.
