Meet UT’s AI Hub: One Login, Many Models

New UT AI Hub

UT’s new AI Hub gives students, faculty, and staff a simple way to use AI for real campus work—without being limited to one tool. Choose the model that best supports your tasks, whether you’re writing, summarizing, coding, planning, or brainstorming.

Students can use ChatGPT (GPT‑5) for everyday help, such as brainstorming, revising drafts, explaining concepts, and coding support. For long readings and study prep, Google Gemini and Claude Sonnet are great at summarizing and organizing information. For big projects that need deeper, step-by-step thinking, Claude Opus is a strong option.

Faculty can use the hub to draft and polish course materials, improve clarity and tone, and speed up research workflows, like summarizing notes or organizing sources. Staff can use it to write and edit emails, reports, web content, and documentation more quickly and consistently. When you need fast idea generation or quick feedback, xAI Grok is great for brainstorming and pressure-testing. And for experimentation and custom workflows, Meta Llama is useful for prototyping and learning.

Overview of Each Model and Key Characteristics

Keep in mind that this list is current as of April 2026. Expect this hub environment to continually evolve to meet the university’s demands and needs.

ChatGPT (GPT‑5)
  • Versatile, all‑purpose assistant
  • Strong writing/rewriting; solid coding help
  • Good reasoning
  • Works well across text (and often images/files)
Claude Sonnet:
  • Clear, well‑structured writing
  • Strong editing and tone control
  • Great at summarizing and organizing long material
  • Careful, reliable responses
Claude Opus
  • Deepest long‑form reasoning and synthesis
  • Best for complex, multi‑step tasks
  • High‑quality long documents and revisions
  • Nuanced analysis
Meta Llama
  • “Open” model family
  • Good for experimentation, prototyping, and customization
  • Helpful for learning how models work and developing AI‑powered apps.
AxAI Grok
  • Very fast
  • Highly conversational
  • Great for brainstorming and pressure‑testing ideas
  • Quick critiques and alternative angles
Google Gemini
  • Strong summarization of long content
  • Good general writing/editing; multimodal capabilities
  • Practical for productivity workflows

It’s important to note that the AI Hub offers core chat access to several models, but more advanced third‑party plugins and integrations aren’t available in this environment.

Try it Out

Try the AI Hub “Model Match” challenge: pick one real task you need to do today (email, summary, outline, code, or plan), run it in two different models, compare the outputs, then use the best result to finish and submit your work.

Available system-wide for students, faculty, and staff. Bottom line: the AI Hub helps UT get better results faster by matching the right AI tool to the task.
