The Office of Innovative Technologies has established a new service—IT Architecture—to support the university’s digital modernization efforts. Our mission is to provide strategic architectural guidance, promote alignment across systems, and bring a whole‑of‑IT perspective to planning and decision‑making. 

The IT Architecture team is available to partner with Knoxville campus colleges and departments to help them navigate complex technology decisions and ensure that their goals and outcomes align across the institution. 

We are available to support in the following areas:   

• Early Engagement for Success: Involve us early in solution development to assess architectural alignment, reduce risks, and increase the likelihood of smooth operational implementation. 
• Pre-Bid IT Architecture Support for RFPs & RFQs: Ask us to assist with writing technology specifications that meet University guidelines. We’ll assist with understanding requirements, navigating nuances, and help chart a clear path forward to ensure your procurement process is efficient and effective. 
• Sounding Board for Strategy: If you are curious about the technological direction of OIT or the University, we’re a trusted resource for exploring ideas, validating strategies, and aligning with the university’s IT vision.
