Get Connected to Eduroam

The Office of Innovative Technologies recommends connecting to eduroam, the university’s secure Wi-Fi network, for faster and more secure access to Wi-Fi! Over the next few months, OIT will be making changes to wireless, giving you a better experience when connecting to eduroam.
What Do You Need to Do?
Connect to eduroam. If you see eduroam on your laptop, phone, or mobile devices, sign in with your UT email address to get connected. Visit the OIT Knowledge Base for detailed instructions for signing into Eduroam on Windows or macOS, Android, and iOS (iPhone/iPad).
- Faculty and Staff Login: NetID@utk.edu and NetID password
- Student Login: NetID@vols.utk.edu and NetID password
Why Should You Connect to Eduroam Instead of UT-Open?
Eduroam:
- is authenticated with your UT email and is more secure
- makes connections to Cynap in classrooms via Wi-Fi more stable
What if You Can’t See Eduroam?
Older devices incapable of faster connections on eduroam can use the ut-open network. Remember, ut-open is a non-secure network, similar to what you might connect to at a restaurant or other public Wi-Fi. We recommend not using ut-open for anything you wouldn’t want an eavesdropper to know — including logging into accounts with passwords. Use ut-open for topics of conversation you would happily discuss in public.
