Mathematica is available for download for all UTK, UTS, and UTHSC students, faculty, and staff from the OIT Software Distribution site. Mathematica, developed by Wolfram Research, Inc. (WRI), is computational software used in science, engineering, finance, and other areas of computing that require mathematics. The Wolfram Mathematica License Agreement between OIT and WRI provides Mathematica for Mac, Linux, and Windows 64-bit platforms.

Mathematica version 14.3 includes several new features, including:

  • Represent an infinite, repeating sequence with Cyclic
  • Schedule and combine multiple LLM generation steps with LLMGraph and LLMGraphSubmit
  • Many feature extractors can now work without training
  • Perform local polynomial regression with LocalModelFit
  • Perform function approximation via smoothing kernels with KernelModelFit
  • Ability to publish 3D contour and density plots for surfaces
  • Exporting expressions and notebooks is now supported for the Markdown format

For a complete list of new features, visit Wolfram’s Mathematica website. For more information regarding installation, license renewals, or to set up an appointment for help with your research, please contact the OIT HelpDesk at 865-974-9900.
