Changes to the Academic Course Linux Environment

If you teach web-based courses requiring students to create websites, we have a new process to share with you.
In accordance with the university’s new website hosting procedure, the Office of Innovative Technologies and the Office of Communication and Marketing have made changes to the appropriate use of the Volweb platform. Students may only use the Linux hosting platform to build websites as part of academic coursework in a currently enrolled course.
In the past, students set up their own accounts on Volweb. For this upcoming semester, faculty who teach courses requiring Volweb access must submit an online request to obtain accounts for their students.
Student coursework sites hosted in Volweb will only be accessible from the university’s network or through the VPN. They will not be publicly available. Volweb accounts are temporary and will be removed at the end of each academic term.
Additional information about Volweb is available on the OIT website.
