Comparing Answers from Different AI Models: A Simple Guide

Magnifying glass comparing two conversations in a split browser window

Now that we have access to multiple AI models in the new UT AI Hub, it’s useful to compare how each model answers the same prompt. Side-by-side comparisons help you pick the clearest, most accurate response—or combine the best parts for your academic or administrative work.

Why Compare AI Models?

Comparing responses can help you:

  • Spot factual errors and gaps.
  • Surface missing context or hidden assumptions.
  • Choose the clearest explanation for your audience.
  • Reduce bias by triangulating across models.

A Simple Method That Works Today

You can compare AI responses in just a few steps using the current UT AI Hub setup:

  • Open the UT AI Hub in two separate browser windows or two browser profiles.
  • Select a different model in each window.
  • Paste the same prompt into each chat.
  • View responses side by side.
  • Compare for accuracy, clarity, and fit for your audience.

A Practical Example

Example: A faculty member asks two models, “Explain photosynthesis in simple terms for introductory college students.” One response may be clearer and more example-driven; another may be more technical. Start with the clearest version, then add only the key scientific terms you need.

Try It Today

Run the same prompt through two models in UT AI Hub, then choose (or combine) the best parts. Before sharing, verify names, dates, policies, and citations. Compare responses for:

  • Accuracy (verify key facts)
  • Clarity for your audience
  • Tone/format for the deliverable (email, syllabus, report)
