Featured Software: SAS 9.4 M9
SAS, developed by SAS Institute, Inc., is a sophisticated statistical software suite for data management, analytics, access, and visualization. SAS recently released the latest SAS 9.4 Maintenance version (M9), which brings a host of updates that improve security, simplify administration, and modernize the platform. The M9 version ships with Java 21, the latest long-term support (LTS) release, and offers enhanced performance, improved memory management, and stronger security features. This release rolls up all previous hot fixes from M8 and earlier, simplifying the upgrade process and ensuring a stable, up-to-date environment.
SAS 9.4 M3 and higher is supported on Windows 10, and SAS 9.4 M7 and higher is supported on Windows 11.

Check the License Usage
SAS licenses are available across all UT campuses and can be installed on personally-owned and UT-owned computers, based on the following uses:
Academic Use: A single-user license for teaching, learning, and academic research is available to students, faculty, and staff at no additional charge. Download the software from the OIT Software Distribution webpage.
Administrative Use: A campus administrative SAS license can be purchased through the OIT Business Office by emailing Tina Gregory at tgregor2@utk.edu.
Commercial Research Restriction: The university’s SAS license may not be used to conduct commercial research. Projects involving external deliverables or sponsor trade secrets where results are not intended for publication are not eligible under the university agreement. In such cases, users must obtain the appropriate commercial license directly from SAS.
