OIT Identity Verification Measures

As part of our ongoing commitment to the security of our campus community, the Office of Innovative Technologies (OIT) would like to remind you of the enhanced identity verification procedures in place when requesting certain actions within Duo. We acknowledge that this additional step may appear inconvenient; however, these measures are crucial for safeguarding your personal information and improving data security.

Specifically, when you update your phone number in Duo or request a bypass code, a new verification step may be required. If the phone number you provide doesn’t match the one we have on file, or if a bypass code is requested, you will need to verify your identity.

This verification process involves sending a text message to the OIT HelpDesk that includes a clear and legible photo (selfie) of yourself holding your photo ID.

In situations where text verification isn’t possible, OIT will schedule a live video call to help you present your photo ID. If neither of these electronic methods works for you, we will guide you to the Commons for in-person verification.

OIT is committed to ensuring digital security for students, faculty, and staff. These procedures highlight the university’s dedication to privacy and digital safety. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a secure community.
