Leveraging Textbook Chapter Questions in Online@UT (Canvas)


Are you planning to use textbook questions to assess your students? Using the course import tool, you can seamlessly import textbook chapter questions into your course to create online assessments. Let’s dive into the summarized steps* for importing textbook questions as course question banks. Once imported, you’ll have more time for direct teaching and inspiring your students!

Step 1: Download and save the textbook .zip file to your computer.

Step 2: Log in to Canvas. In course navigation, select the Settings link.

Step 3: Import textbook .zip file:

  1. Select the Import Course Content button located along the right side of the Settings page.
  2. In the Content Type dropdown menu, select the QTI .zip file option, then Choose File and locate the .zip file you downloaded in Step 1. Select the Open button.
  3. In the Default Question bank drop-down menu, select the Question bank you want to use or create a new question bank.
  4. Select the Import button.
