Are you a researcher and need help performing statistical analysis, analyzing data, or creating survey questions? OIT offers customized assistance to faculty, graduate students, and others on advanced statistical methods, qualitative research, survey methodology, and GIS. OIT staff have co-authored over 270 research manuscripts and spend more than 3,500 hours yearly consulting on projects that directly impact academic research activities at the university.

For Faculty and Staff

OIT has added support for your research endeavors. Faculty and staff can now receive up to 50 hours of research computing assistance per year. Additionally, you may include research consultants in grants at a 2-3% per year full-time employee (FTE) allocation. The OIT team member is considered either a collaborator/consultant and listed as senior/key personnel as defined by the NIH or the appropriate granting agency.

For Students

Students may request up to 15 hours of support per semester for help with research manuscripts, thesis, dissertations, and capstone research projects. All consultations are conveniently performed over Zoom.

Topics we can assist with include:

  • Advanced statistical analyses and quantitative research methodologies
  • Biostatistics and experimental design
  • Qualitative research design and analysis
  • Geocoding and geo-visualization for Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Technical support and training for research design, including software questions in ArcGIS, NVivo, Qualtrics, R, SAS, SPSS, and Stata, among others
  • Web survey design using Qualtrics
  • Sample size determination and power analysis

If you wish to schedule a one-on-one consultation with one of our staff or need help installing statistical software, contact the OIT HelpDesk online or by phone at 865-974-9900.
