Notable New Features in Akindi

Akindi is a web-based assessment system that automates the creation and grading of multiple-choice examinations. It is accessible through Canvas and it uses your departmental copy machine to scan and score bubble-forms. We are excited to share with you several major improvements designed to make managing your assessments easier than ever.
Extended Time Limit and Deadlines
You can extend the time limit and/or deadline for live assessments to provide additional time for the entire class or specific students. When a schedule is updated, the students will be notified that their deadline has been extended, and their timer will automatically be updated. Note that the deadline and time limit can only be extended for live assessments; the time limit or deadline cannot be reduced.
Easy Access to Your Answer Keys
You can edit your answer keys from the ‘Overview’ or ‘Responses’ tab. You can see the question breakdown, change the correct answer, grading scheme, or question weight.
Improved Canvas Gradebook Summary
When sending grades to your Canvas Gradebook, Akindi will now provide an improved summary of the number of grades to be sent and a detailed description of why some grades cannot be sent.
Akindi will highlight:
- Students with missing or misfiled student IDs
- Students with invalid version bubbles
- Missing answer keys
New Exception Handling Features
- Increased clarity: Understand why exceptions occur and how they impact students’ grades.
- Improved alerting: Ensure every sheet is accounted for with new exception types to catch blank test sheets, duplicate student IDs, and replaced answer keys.
- Added filtering and searching: Find specific exceptions easily and focus only on exceptions that require intervention.
Improved Results Analysis
- Partial mark report: Clearly see when students receive less than full credit on a question.
- Single student actions: Take greater control over your assessments by exporting results on a student-by-student basis.
More Features and Improvements
- Question analytics can be seen as an overlay on top of question-and-answer content.
- Sort questions by hardest, easiest, most effective, and least effective.
- Select multiple PDF files when uploading test sheets.
- The PDF file size limit was increased to 25MB.
- For ‘One Question at a Time’ online assessments, Akindi will now display the question-and-answer content in the results pages, providing you with the full context of the question and answer when editing answer keys.
- When uploading a Word document containing your questions, answers, and answer key, each content type will be identified automatically. Select the desired number of versions, and Akindi will scramble your questions to create multiple versions.
More detailed instructional articles and videos about these and other features of Akindi are available on Akindi’s webiste.
