Tools to Use for Final Exams
It’s that time of year again to start preparing for semester final exams. If you are giving your final on Canvas, whether in the classroom or online, there are two tools you may want to consider adding to your exam toolbox: Akindi Importer and Proctorio.
Akindi Importer
Akindi Importer is an import tool on Canvas that allows faculty to build large question banks and individual quizzes using Microsoft Word and upload the document into the Akindi Importer. The tool will auto-detect and convert the questions into a QTI file to be imported into Canvas, creating a new question bank and/or individual quiz.
Question types supported include:
- Multiple-choice
- Multiple-answer
- Open-ended questions
- Fill-in-the blank
- Matching
Proctorio
Proctorio is an automated remote proctoring service that is integrated with Canvas. Proctorio allows instructors to use various tools like browser lockdown and identity confirmation to discourage students from academic dishonesty and misconduct.
