Classic Teams App Support is Ending Soon

New Teams, image depicts the Microsoft Teams logo.

Microsoft Teams has undergone a major overhaul this year with the new version being faster, simpler, and more flexible than ever before. Classic Microsoft Teams support will end on July 1, 2024, with the NEW label removed from the new Teams app mid-to-late July 2024. Classic Teams will be unavailable on certain OS from October 23, 2024, and for all users by July 1, 2025. Users should update their OS and Teams client to avoid disruptions.

  • To switch to the new Teams app, simply flip the toggle next to “Try the new Teams” in the upper-left corner of the classic Teams app.

New and updated Teams features include:

  • Custom Channel Announcement Backgrounds: Make your channel announcements stand out and grab attention with personalized backgrounds.
  • Loop Components in Channels: Keep your team on the same page and easily share updates with Loop components. These embeddable modules let you insert live content from other Microsoft apps like OneNote and Excel directly into your channels, fostering real-time collaboration.
  • Improved Search Experience: Find what you need faster with the enhanced search functionality. Filter results by content type, date, and even domain-specific searches to narrow down your findings and locate relevant information efficiently.
  • OneDrive Experience: Access and manage your files seamlessly with the integrated OneDrive app. Engage with a familiar interface for storing, sharing, and collaborating on documents, eliminating the need to switch between apps.
