Emergency Phones

Emergency phones are located across campus to communicate with UT Police, E-911, university administration, and/or other agencies in an emergency situation. These emergency phones include blue, elevator, area of refuge, and administrative (power fail). As always, when calling 911 in an emergency, remain on the line with the dispatcher until all information and instructions are given.

Infrastructure Protection

Telephone Services maintains an extensive infrastructure, consisting of copper and fiber – both underground and aerial. Considering the nature of the signals transmitted via the campus infrastructure, crucial services could be disrupted in the event of damage. If an outage occurs, contact Telephone Services by email or call (865) 974-3121.

Tennessee 811 – Call Before You Dig

The university maintains a relationship with the Tennessee 811 service to prevent the possibility of service interruptions for the campus community. To reach the Tennessee 811 service, call 1-800-351-1111, or from the Knoxville area, call 811.
