Two-Factor Authentication Coming to Public Lamp

On June 15, 2022, OIT will require two-factor authentication (2FA) to access the OIT Public LAMP environment (linux.oit.utk.edu). Once required, you will receive a Duo prompt when connecting to your Public LAMP account using an SSH or SFTP client.

Because of this change, you may need to connect to or configure your client differently.

Departmental NetID Managed Websites

If you own or manage a departmental NetID or student organization account, you can update the approved devices for your account on the Password Management site.

Update: Connecting to Public LAMP via Cyberduck or FileZilla

After the 2FA deployment, we discovered some updated settings that may enhance the user experience to connect to Public lamp from Cyberduck or FileZilla. You can limit the number of times you are prompted to 2FA authenticate by adjusting the Transfer settings within the client.
Visit the SSH Client Configuration Knowledge Base article for instructions for your specific SFPT client.
