Test Drive UDL with Dr. Bob

UDL with Dr. Bob, head shot of Dr. Bob

Our OIT Faculty Fellow, Professor Bob DuBois (a.k.a, Dr. Bob), continues advocating for universal design for learning (UDL) principles in the design and delivery of learning experiences across campus. UDL principles are foundational to achieving UT Knoxville’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives, especially to empower learners to adhere to their dreams through accessible education and to commit to excellence, equity, and inclusion. When we value UDL, we recognize that our curriculum design and delivery can and should flex through effective scaffolding to help all students become successful learners.

Across the 2022-23 academic year, Dr. Bob has consulted with several faculty and staff on strategies for enhancing student success via UDL principles, including:

  • diverse strategies for helping students become engaged, motivated, self-regulated, and resilient learners,
  • diverse means of representing course concepts and principles in accessible, helpful ways, and
  • diverse means for assessing student learning.

This summer, as you prepare for your best academic year, consider working with our faculty fellow to learn about UDL, consult on your course design and delivery, and grow as a lifelong learner and learning facilitator.
