Quarterly Zoom Desktop App Update


Zoom Updates

As a reminder, Zoom requires quarterly updates for all desktops, laptops, and mobile users. This policy will ensure you have the best online classroom and meeting experience with the Zoom product.

Zoom has announced its schedule for the first two deadlines in 2024, February 3 and May 4. Visit OIT’s Zoom Quarterly Lifecycle Policy webpage for more information. 

Please note that the minimum client version enforcement is an effort to ensure that each leader and participant has the most secure and successful online experience with Zoom. The latest client version contains feature updates, security enhancements, and application fixes. If the client version falls below the minimum, you will be prompted to update Zoom when you attempt to join your next meeting.

Users running a Zoom client older than the following operating systems will be affected:

  • 5.14.5 (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Intune)
  • 5.14.0 (Blackberry)

To update the Zoom desktop application:

  1. Log in to the desktop application.
  2. Select the profile image at the top-right of the application window. Your profile could be your initials or a picture you uploaded.
  3. Choose the option to Check for Updates* and follow the prompts on the screen.
    *If you downloaded Zoom from the Microsoft Store, you will not see the Check for Updates option. The Microsoft Store updates the Zoom app automatically.
