Engage Your Face-to-Face & Online Students with Kahoot!
The 2023 Kahoot! Pilot for UTK Faculty is underway! OIT has secured a limited number of instructor licenses to gauge interest in long-term usage and support for instructional purposes. Quickly and easily create, share, and play interactive learning games, called kahoots, to engage your students in face-to-face, virtual, and asynchronous online classes. Use kahoots to quiz students (multiple choice, true/false, typed response, slider, or puzzle), gather student opinions (polls, dropped pins, word clouds, open-ended responses, or brainstorms), and/or present slide content.
Instructors can create their own kahoots or select from community-developed kahoots, many available for free, on various topics. In a face-to-face or virtual class, the instructor starts the kahoot on-screen, and students join the interaction using their devices by scanning the QR code or entering the game PIN. In an online course, the instructor assigns the kahoot and makes it available to students anywhere the rich content editor is available in Canvas – assignments, pages, discussions, or even announcements.
For UTK faculty interested in joining this pilot:
- If you received an invitation email from Kahoot! inviting you to upgrade to the University’s K!EDU license, follow the emailed instructions.
- If you have not previously used Kahoot! in your course(s), request a license by submitting an OIT HelpDesk ticket.
