Changes to T-Storage H: and I: Drives


Watch for changes on 1/31 thru 2/7
OIT will be moving T-Storage to a new storage service. During the move, access to the primary departmental areas, commonly mapped to I: drive, and the home areas, mapped to the H: drive will be unavailable during the following times:

  • Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. through Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 1:00 a.m.
    I: Drive (RA or T-storage) depts$, depts2, and related shares
  • Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. through Wednesday, February 7, 2023, at 1:00 a.m.
    H: Drive (Tshome)

After the Migration

If you cannot connect to T-Storage after the migration, OIT recommends logging off and back on. If reconnecting doesn’t correct the issue, you may need to remap your drives. Instructions are available in the OIT Knowledge Base for WindowsmacOS, and Linux.

Technical Notes About the Migration

Please note the following services and functionality will also be affected:

  • Apps@UTK uses mapped drives to home areas, which will not be accessible during the tshome outage on February 7.
  • IP numbers are changing. If your client is mapped with IP names instead of names, you must remap these drives. 
  • SMB 1.x isn’t supported on the new service, which will affect a small number of clients, and potentially scanners that allow saving directly to file shares
  • File share migrations break clients that have enabled offline file sharing. You will need to remap these drives and disable offline files.
  • Older File Snapshots, or Previous Versions, cannot be transferred to the new service. Please contact the OIT HelpDesk if you need content restored from the old storage service.
