Visual Design | Web Content | Written Communication 

OIT Communications & Creative Services is seeking a Graduate Assistant for a 12-month, 20-hour-per-week position, scheduled in blocks of 2-6 hours within standard Monday-to-Friday business hours. This is a one-year position, with the possibility of renewal based on performance. Graduate positions typically run from August 1 of the current year to July 31 of the following year; this position is paid at the UT Graduate Stipend 12-month level. 

The Graduate Assistant will contribute to visual design, WordPress content updates, written communications, process documentation, and general organization of materials. Coursework or experience in graphic design is desirable. 

Location: Primarily remote, with periodic in-person work at OIT’s offices on the UT Knoxville campus. 

Typical Tasks 

• Design OIT promotional materials and graphics 

• Create and maintain content in WordPress sites 

• Assist with web development and basic HTML/CSS 

• Write and maintain documentation 

Required Skills 

• Visual design (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator) 

• Excellent written communication 

• Ability to meet deadlines and learn new tools quickly 

Preferred Skills 

• WordPress or another web content management system 

• HTML and CSS 

• Web design and UX/UI principles 

• Process and step-by-step documentation
