Welcome to OIT’s “Tiny UTK URL App” where you can create, manage, assign owners, and delete Tiny URLs. This app includes UTK in the shortened URL just like this one, tiny.utk.edu/tinyURL!
Tiny URLs must be renewed annually by the URL owner. The owner will begin receiving daily email reminders 30 days prior to the URL renewal due date. If the renewal process is not completed in the required window of time, the affected URL will enter a suspended state for an additional 30 days. If the Tiny URL is not renewed during the suspended state, the Tiny URL will be removed and will no longer function. Once a Tiny URL is removed, if you find the URL is still needed, a new URL will need to be created.
All Tiny URLs will be periodically checked for validity and safety. Any Tiny URL that is found to be invalid/unsafe will be immediately suspended and the owner will be notified. The suspension will work just as it does for Tiny URLs which have not been renewed.
All Tiny URLs will be periodically checked to ensure that the owner is still valid. If there is no owner or the owner is no longer an active UT employee (no longer associated with the University), the Tiny URL will be suspended immediately and the Website Administrator will be notified. The suspension will work just as it does for Tiny URLs which have not been renewed, although the suspension period will be 365 days instead of 30 days. Also the page displayed when a suspended Tiny URL is used will contain a link that will allow the user to take ownership of the Tiny URL.
