The Office of Innovative Technologies (OIT) at the University of Tennessee provides a variety of services to help with computing as it applies to research.
Research Computing Support
The Research Computing Support (RCS) team provides quantitative, qualitative, and geographic information systems support to faculty, staff, and student researchers at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The statisticians on the RCS team provide statistical consulting and assist with data analysis, study design, sample size determination, web surveys, machine learning, and data visualization. The RCS team can coauthor manuscripts and provide assistance with writing methods and results sections. Faculty and students have access to research software such as ArcGIS, MATLAB, NVivo, Python, Qualtrics, SAS, SPSS, Stata, R, and others.
High Performance and Scientific Computing
The High Performance Scientific Computing (HPSC) team works more specifically with researchers who need more specialized high-end, supercomputing resources for their work. Both Open and Secure computing Enclaves can be accessed for high-performance task. While the Open Enclave allows for seamless access for all researchers on campus, the Secure Enclave meets Protected Health Information and Controlled Unclassified Information federal regulations. Support for using these resources includes system administration, scientific computing, documentation, training, software installation and maintenance, and other support services.
