Available Software



OIT offers software to active students, faculty, and staff at reduced or no additional cost. Software is made available to you based on the following criteria:

  • Your affiliation (faculty, staff, or student)
  • Campus (UTK, UTHSC, UTM, etc.)
  • Equipment purchased with university funds or another source

Downloads

Many software packages are available for download from the OIT Software Distribution site to be installed on your computer.  Installation and activation instructions and codes are usually a separate downloads.

Departmental and Personal Purchases

Windows 10 for Students:
Students are eligible for one copy of Windows 10 for Education at no additional cost. Additional information.

Microsoft SQL Server:
Microsoft SQL server software are available for purchase under our Microsoft Select Agreement, managed by the UTSA IT Services group. Visit our Service Portal page for pricing and order information.

VolTech:
Faculty, staff, and students can purchase software for departmental and personal use at VolTech.

Apps@UT: OIT’s Terminal Server

Our Apps@UT system lets you run software as if it were installed on your computer. Open and save files on your computer and print to your printer. Use Apps@UT from any Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, or Android device.

Cloud-Based Software

Some software is made available directly from the vendor or accessed through a web browser. Applications include ESRI ArcGIS, Qualtrics, Office 365 ProPlus, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Research Software

OIT negotiates contracts with many major research software providers including ArcGIS, MATLAB, Mathmatica, NVivo, Qualtrics, SAS, SPSS, Stata, and others. All research licenses require that you use the software only for academic or administrative purposes.If the software use benefits any outside organization, you need to purchase a commercial license.
