SigmaPlot by Systat Software, Inc.
What is it? SigmaPlot is a scientific graphing and visualization software package with advanced curve fitting, a vector-based programming language, and macro capability. The software is controlled through a graphical user interface modeled after Microsoft Office. SigmaPlot contains over 100 graph types, and the user interface allows detailed manipulation of every graph object. SigmaPlot also includes access to 50 statistical tests that can be used for basic data analysis.

What can the license be used for? Enrolled students, faculty, and staff are permitted to use SigmaPlot for university-related instruction and noncommercial academic research purposes.
University members are not permitted to use SigmaPlot for commercial research or administrative purposes. Use that benefits outside organizations requires the purchase of a commercial license.
Where can I run it? SigmaPlot is available on OIT’s Apps@UT server and on the computers in the OIT public computer labs, where six people can use it at once.
How can I learn it? To get started with SigmaPlot you can watch the tutorials on the SigmaPlot introductory movies web page.
Where can I get support? OIT offers minimal support to University of Tennessee, Knoxville-area students, faculty, and staff for SigmaPlot. However, the company offers assistance through its product support page.
License Use Definitions:
- Instruction: teaching and learning activities
- Noncommercial research: academic research; thesis or dissertation work; results are published
- Commercial research:
involves external deliverables; a trade secret of the sponsor; results are not published - Administrative:
non-research, non-instruction uses related to the function of one’s university job (ex. generating departmental reports)
