Support for Research Proposal Development from OIT High Performance & Scientific Computing

OIT High Performance & Scientific Computing (HPSC) provides research computing resources and services to the University community, including:

  • ISAAC, the Infrastructure for Scientific Applications and Advanced Computing
  • Research proposal support for equipment to be placed in any of the ISAAC clusters or professional support

ISAAC is comprised of two distinct HPSC environments to support high performance & scientific computing: the ISAAC Secure Enclave for research with sensitive information and the ISAAC Open Enclave for research not involving any sensitive information.

Along with the ISAAC, the HPSC supports faculty and researchers in preparing proposals that include computational resources such as equipment, virtual machines, and professional services such as Computational Scientist (SciComp) or system administrator support. 

If your proposal is in response to federal solicitations know that ISAAC is not a cost center, and the following conditions apply:

  • Actual equipment costs for HPSC compute nodes will be quoted by HPSC staff.
  • SciComp staff costs will be determined following University guidelines and policies.
  • Virtual machine costs or system administrator costs are a standard OIT service and will be quoted as such.
