Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor- Test your Technology and Be Prepared.

LockDown Browser is a locked web browser for taking assessments such as tests, quizzes, and exams in Online@UT (Canvas). It prevents you from printing, copying, visiting another URL, or accessing other computer applications during an assessment. If your instructor requires LockDown Browser, you will not be able to take the assessment using a standard web browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
You may be required to use LockDown Browser with a webcam, which will record you during an online, non-proctored exam. The webcam feature is sometimes referred to as “Respondus Monitor.” Your computer must have a functioning webcam and microphone. Mac users must have Adobe Flash Player installed to Safari, even you usually use a different browser.
Best Practice – Prior to your first online assessment, you may complete a practice quiz that uses LockDown Browser and Monitor to ensure your computer equipment can run properly. Self-enroll in our Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor course site to test your equipment.
