OIT Support: Where To Find It & How To Get It

The best way to get help for all your IT needs is to contact the OIT HelpDesk. Rather than directly emailing your “go-to” OIT team member, contact us through any of the following methods to ensure the entire service team sees your request and works together to provide a prompt answer. 

  • Phone: 865-974-9900, available 24/7 when the university is open
  • Chat:, available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Online:, the team will respond via email during University business hours 

The OIT Canvas and Zoom Support team is available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can call the OIT HelpDesk and get connected to one of our Course Design and Delivery specialists.

The OIT Desktop Support team is available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call the OIT HelpDesk to get started; we provide remote assistance by phone and make office visits for staff on the Knoxville campus. Help for students is available remotely by telephone and in the Commons at Hodges Library (by appointment only).  Full service will resume for students on August 16, 2021.

The RCS team is available for quantitative, qualitative, and ArcGIS consulting services online by appointment Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Virtual walk-in support is available online during the regularly scheduled walk-in research support hoursCall the OIT HelpDesk or start a live chat to connect with our research computing specialists.

The Instructional Development and Technology Training team offers support Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a variety of topics, including: 

  • Classroom Technology Training
  • Clickers for in-class and online use
  • Course graphics, recorded lectures, webcasting, and WordPress
  • Training classes, both scheduled and on-demand for various topics, including the Microsoft Office apps, the applications within Adobe Creative Cloud, and building a website. Choose a topic from our complete list
