macOS 11 Big Sur now available

Apple has released its latest operating system, macOS 11 Big Sur.  Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. It is version 11 and not some form of 10.x as has been normal for the last two decades. OIT is recommending caution when upgrading your operating system to Big Sur and only doing so after you have verified that all of your required applications and peripherals will work with the newer OS. Printer vendors such as Xerox are warning that users should wait until printer drivers for Big Sur are available before upgrading. Verify at your vendor sites that your applications and peripherals have been confirmed to work with Big Sur.

If you do decide to proceed with the upgrade, please be sure to back up your data and locate any media and/or license codes for your essential applications prior to initiating the upgrade.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the OIT HelpDesk online or call (865) 974-9900.
