1.1 PB Added to Lustre Storage

High Performance and Scientific Computing (HPSC) has expanded the Lustre parallel filesystem on the ISAAC Next Gen—ISAAC NG—cluster from 4.5 PB to 5.6 PB. This upgrade adds 1.1 PB of storage capacity to support the University of Tennessee’s growing research community.
Lustre is designed for data-intensive computing and helps power large-scale simulations, AI and machine learning projects, genomics research, and other demanding scientific workloads where fast access to massive datasets is critical. As research datasets grow, this expansion gives UT researchers more capacity to manage data, run complex analyses, and accelerate discovery. By strengthening the infrastructure behind data-intensive research, HPSC helps faculty, students, and research teams tackle bigger challenges and advance their work more efficiently.
