Get to Know Your Classrooms for Fall

We can help you get familiar with your classroom technology. To learn on your own, view the online, self-paced documentation, available on the new Classroom Technology Resource website. You may also request a consultation over Zoom.

New Website to Learn the Classroom Technology

Start by visiting the new Classroom Technology Resources website. Here, you will find specific instructions for campus-hosted classrooms and training resources for using your classroom technology to its fullest. We have specific information and instructions available online now, and we are working to complete all of the classroom support documentation daily until the list is complete. If your specific classroom is not listed yet, start with our general training support available under the “Technology Training” link on the site.

Request Help for Your Classroom

If you have questions and need general support you may contact the OIT HelpDesk to have a trainer contact you. Contact the OIT HelpDesk online or by phone at 865-974-9900.

Know the Classroom Size

If you know which classroom you’ll be teaching in, you can check classrooms.utk.edu and search for your room. Note the style of control panel in your room. Then, come back to the online training support documentation to see if it looks like a Medium or Large classroom.

Two Ways We Can Help

  1. Technology Support Training for Large and Medium-sized Classrooms
Request “Technology Support” on how to connect your equipment.
  2. Student Experience
Request “Student Experience” training if you’re already familiar with how to use the technology in the classroom and want to know how your online students will be viewing what you’re doing in the classroom.

HyFlex Teaching Support

Check out the “Teaching Modalities” webpages on OIT’s site to learn about best practices and the available help we are offering based on the teaching-styles that you will be offering whether face-to-face, online, or a hybrid classroom.

Watch the Video Training

Would you like a quick how-to lesson on setting up your classroom to use Zoom for online students while teaching face-to-face? Check out these videos:

  • Using Zoom and Cynap for In-Class and Online Students
This video will explain how to use Zoom on the Cynap so that you can share your laptop, PowerPoint slides, or document camera with your online students to give them as close to an in-class experience as possible.

  • Connecting to Zoom and Projector for In-Class and Online Instruction
This video will explain how you can easily adapt from connecting your laptop using the HDMI cable in the classroom to also sharing with your students online. This model does not use the interactive Cynap capabilities and is closer to how many instructors connect during a normal class period simply connecting your laptop to a projector to display your PowerPoint slides.
