In January 2022, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Mobile Communications of America Inc. (MCA) activated AT&T 5G cellular service in five new buildings, including Haslam College of Business, Andy Holt Tower, Claxton Education Building, Bailey Education Complex, and the lower basement of Humanities. This initiative is part of OIT’s continuing effort to bring cellular services to otherwise underserved areas of campus. OIT and MCS are working with carriers like AT&T, Verizon, and US Cellular to offer more services to the campus community. Other areas of campus are currently under construction, and OIT will announce more information once they are complete.
