Announcing Stata 17

STATA logo

Stata is a general-purpose software package for statistics, data management, and graphics. Stata 17 was recently released providing 29 additional features. These include many new statistical algorithms for Bayesian statistical analyses, interval-censored Cox models, multivariate meta-analysis, and advanced lasso techniques.

In addition, the Intel Math Kernel Library has been updated which provides substantial speed enhancements to underlying matrix algebra computations. For Mac users, Apple Silicon is now inherently supported, and does not require the use of Rosetta 2. PyStata now provides a direct way to invoke Stata directly from any standalone Python environment including Jupyter Notebooks. Finally, Do-file editor enhancements have also been provided.

Stata/SE is available at no additional charge to faculty, staff, and students at UTK, UTC, UTSI, and UTHSC for installation on university-owned and personally-owned Windows, Macs, and Linux computers. The download and installation instructions are available at the OIT Software Download web page
