The Commons, a collaboration between the Office of Information
Technology (OIT) and University Libraries, is located in the center of
campus, on the second floor of Hodges Library, which is the university’s
OIT's Student Technology Assistants for Research and Teaching (START) Program provides training and support to all UTK students,
faculty, and staff using the equipment within the Practice Presentation
Rooms. The START Team and the Practice Presentation Rooms are an
extension of the equipment and services OIT makes available in their
Technology- Enhanced Classrooms throughout the UTK campus.
START provides training in the Practice Presentation Room (220E), which was designed to provide patrons with an opportunity to practice a presentation in a realistic envrionment. START also provided training for the Martha L. King Small Group Study Room (220C). The equipment for each room is listed below and can be used alone or in various combinations.

Commons Reservation (Reservation Form)
Patrons may reserve either room via an online reservation
form. Some uses include: training, practice, presentation, videoconference,
group study, or meeting. Reservations are on a first come-first serve basis and may be reserved up to 2 weeks in advance for a maximum of 2 hours.
SMART Podium patrons may use the installed computer, a personal
laptop computer or check out a computer from The Commons. The SMARTBoard
software must be installed onto any personal laptop computer that will be engaging
the SMART Podium. The software can be downloaded from SMART
Worldwide videoconferencing is available via Zoom. Patrons should contact the HelpDesk for Zoom videoconference training or email@example.com
for basic videoconferencing setup. Previous uses have included:
